Extra security: each carrier is equipped with a safety elastic that simply slides over the buckle. This way, the carrier is always doubly secured.
Optimal softness: the extra padded shoulder strap feels soft against both your shoulder and back. No pressure points, even when worn for extended periods.

How to use the LUMBAYA hip carrier
Prepare
 1. Place the hip carrier on your left or right hip and close the buckle.
 2. Slide the safety elastic over the buckle for extra security.
Placing your child
 3. Place the hip carrier over your toddler and tighten the shoulder strap.
 4. Always keep one arm around your child for extra support.
 5. Adjust the strap so that your child sits securely and close to you, without too much slack.
Check the position
6. Your toddler should always sit facing you.
 7. Make sure that the lower back, buttocks and thighs are well supported.
 8. Always support your child's back with one arm. 

 Correct – Upright (optimal)
 Child in sitting position; buttocks and thighs supported by the carrier; parent supports with an arm or hand.
 
 Incorrect – Dust not properly distributed
 Fabric does not fit properly under buttocks and legs; child may slide out of the seat.
 
 Incorrect – No support
 Parent does not support child with arm or hand; child may fall.

Failure to follow these warnings and the manufacturer's instructions can result in death or serious injury. Only use this carrier with children over 4 months old and weighing between 18 and 35 pounds.
SUFFOCATION HAZARD
- Babies younger than 4 months can suffocate in this product if face is pressed tightly against your body.
 - Babies at greatest risk of suffocation include those born prematurely and those with respiratory problems.
 - Check often to make sure baby's face is uncovered, clearly visible, and away from caregiver's body at all times.
 - Make sure baby does not curl into a position with the chin resting on or near baby's chest. This position can interfere with breathing, even when nothing is covering the nose or mouth.
 - If you nurse your baby in carrier, always reposition after feeding so baby's face is not pressed against your body.
 - Never use this carrier with babies smaller than 8 pounds without seeking the advice of a healthcare professional.
 
FALL HAZARD
- Leaning, bending over, or tripping can cause baby to fall. Keep one hand on baby while moving.
 - Always hold your child with one arm.
 - This carrier is only for support.
 - When using this carrier constantly monitor your child.
